This is very different to a petrol engine where EGR ain't the best. In an ideal world in diesels a working EGR is a good thing. So the two real reasons most people delete the EGRs are firstly due to cost of replacement – when the manifold so choked up with soot and the flap or whatever is jammed it usually leads to the death of said EGR valve.

IMHO, EGR is a terrible idea on any engine and even worse on a turbo diesel, that being said, on a factory 6.0 (which was already "tuned" by Ford to add over 100 hp above what Navistar built) the Ford programming will command EGR flow at high load/temps to reduce combustion temps, (not what I would have

For speakerfritz, deleting a modern-day Super Duty just doesn’t seem necessary anymore. “The big delete fad is pretty much over with the advent of the 6.7 engine. What started the delete craze was the failed EGRs in 6.0s and 6.4s. Things like engine wall washing and related oil contamination with washed fuel, cracked heads due to heat
I want to add the following notes to help others to clean the EGR ports and the EGR valve more easily: I) To remove the input throttle easily, do: 1. Remove the battery. 2. Remove the air cleaner top assembly and the fitting/hose/pipe from the air cleaner assembly to the input throttle. EGR delete does not work without a complete computer reprogramming and remapping all the fuel mixture maps.. when the EGR valve opens as you accelerate.. exhaust gas containing less oxygen as its been burned up in combustion.. this lowers the need for fuel. so the computer program backs off on the air fuel ratio by narrowing the injector pulse
As to the best I have not done one so Im not the best to answer this. I think most use the sinister egr delete. Its gets the job done at the cheapest price! Moved to the 6.0L Powerstroke Diesel forum. I'm not a big fan of deleting the EGR system. I believe that is an unnecessary action.

The most authoritative info I found was on some epa (or other government site) that said tampering with factory emissions was illegal for street vehicles and permissible only for off road vehicles.
The EGR solenoid is an electronic vacuum valve that distributes engine vacuum to the EGR valve. It lets exhaust gases enter the intake manifold by opening a passage when the car computer prompts it. This solenoid lowers the combustion temperature, preventing heat damage to the engine block, head gasket , cylinder, and pistons .

I did my EGR delete and external oil cooler a few weeks ago. It took me since then to work out a few kinks in the performance of a few items (I had a broke injector plug, bad O-ring, blah blah..) Anyway, the truck is finally running fantastic, under all conditions. Jeep & Ram 3.0L EcoDiesel Engine Problems. Oil Cooler Failure. EGR Cooler Failure. Leaking Exhaust Couplers. Slipping Camshaft Gear. 1. Oil Cooler Failure. When towing heavy loads, or towing in mountainous regions, the engines oil temperatures can increase significantly which is known to cause the oil cooler to fail. Is it worth doing an EGR delete? With the pros and cons of EGR delete, it is hard to say whether it is worth it or not. The EGR delete improves fuel economy, maximizes engine power, limits vehicle, extends engine life span, etc., Also, it can lead to engine knocking.

What are your credentials? I work as a Diesel calibration engineer in the automotive industry. So stop spreading your BS over here about stuff that you have no idea about. EGR and AFT delete is illegal, straight and simple, besides that the failure of these systems will vary as per their application and how the were calibrated.

It’s common for owners to simply delete the EGR system when problems do pop up. Of course, EGR delete can have legal concerns due to emissions laws. Sometimes cleaning the EGR valve will help alleviate issues. Though, it’s usually a good idea to replace or delete the parts – especially if your Dodge or Ram 6.7 is higher mileage.
EGR Delete Cons 1. Bad For the Environment. The whole purpose of the EGR valve is to recirculate some of the exhaust gases back into the 2. Possibly Reduced Horsepower. The EGR delete kit works much better with an older diesel motor. In the older 3. Louder Performance. This could be seen as a
It's really not that hard I would say I can do it in 3-4 hrs. 5 tops. Im in the same boat as you Powerstroke.I have been shopping the job in the New Orleans area to change the oil cooler and install my EGR delete kit and have gotten quotes that range from 540.00 to 1030.00.They are saying 10-13 hours.Im thinking I can do it myself.I swapped my

Things to Consider Before Performing a Diesel Delete. While a DPF, DEF, and EGR delete will improve the performance of your diesel vehicle and extend the life of the engine, there are certain things you should take into consideration before doing so: Warranties: Tampering with or removing pollution-control components can void your engine’s Nope! Not with just the DPF delete. Thats a pretty high price to pay for a little braggin rights I don't know how good or bad this engine will be. But my past experience with the 7.3 and 6.0 engines convinced me that the 100,000 mile warranty was worth quite a bit. Most of my service work was in the 80,000 to 100,000 mile time period.
