Remove the battery. 2. Remove the air cleaner top assembly and the fitting/hose/pipe from the air cleaner assembly to the input throttle. EGR delete does not work without a complete computer reprogramming and remapping all the fuel mixture maps.. when the EGR valve opens as you accelerate.. exhaust gas containing less oxygen as its been burned up in combustion.. this lowers the need for fuel. so the computer program backs off on the air fuel ratio by narrowing the injector pulse
As to the best I have not done one so Im not the best to answer this. I think most use the sinister egr delete. Its gets the job done at the cheapest price! Moved to the 6.0L Powerstroke Diesel forum. I'm not a big fan of deleting the EGR system. I believe that is an unnecessary action.
The EGR solenoid is an electronic vacuum valve that distributes engine vacuum to the EGR valve. It lets exhaust gases enter the intake manifold by opening a passage when the car computer prompts it. This solenoid lowers the combustion temperature, preventing heat damage to the engine block, head gasket , cylinder, and pistons .330 posts · Joined 2010. #2 · Jan 12, 2012. just do an egr delete kit. gets rid of the cooler and egr. just my $.02. 06LLY- EFILive DSP5 Duramaxtuner, EGR block, 5" exhaust, Banks Ram-Air, pitman/idler braces, Rare Parts tie rods, nicktane-CAT, leveled, Bilstein 5100s, rear airbags, traction bars, road armor bumper, 285/75-16 Dick Cepek F-C II.
